The New Year brought a new recruit to the marketing team here at revvd – we are very excited to announce Lydia Bryant has joined our ranks as Marketing Manager!
With 13 years of experience in marketing, working both agency side and in-house, Lydia is well versed in a multitude of marketing disciplines, but really shines when it comes to writing engaging copy.
With just over a week under her belt at revvd, Lydia’s already feeling right at home, so we decided to catch up with her to share more about her background and why she decided to join us at revvd HQ.
Hi Lydia! could you tell us more about your experience in marketing and what brought you to revvd?
It would be my pleasure! I studied marketing, advertising and communications at the University of Gloucestershire and jumped straight into agency life upon graduating. I stayed agency side for about 8 years, moving from the more local B2B agency I started my career in, to a B2C public relations agency that worked predominantly with national clients. This was fast-paced and highly competitive, I loved it, but after progressing to Account Director level, I was ready for a change and took a position in-house for a local business.
The role involved a great deal of brand development, which was very rewarding, and after a few years of seeing the business grow and thrive, it was time to move on to my next career progression which has taken me full circle back to the B2B agency world!
What was it about the marketing manager position that made you want to apply?
I was excited to work for an agency that took an integrated marketing approach, where there was scope to be creative and innovative across a range of marketing disciplines, which was obvious from the get-go! However, during my first interview with Louise (Marketing Director), the breadth of the role became really apparent. When I came to the office for my in-person interview, it solidified what an opportunity it would be to work for a diverse agency that’s focussed on staying ahead of the curve. I just knew I had to get the job ha!
What advice would you give to anyone wanting to get into marketing?
Don’t assume that you can become a master of all the marketing disciplines, there’s many! When doing your studies in marketing, really consider what areas you enjoy the most, and what you excel at, whether it’s writing, creative content, project management or digital skills like SEO. It’s such broad industry, which is great because it offers an abundance of opportunity, progression and development, but try not to become a jack of all trades!
